Betty R. Rice, 83, of St. Mary's died Thursday March 4, 2010 at 10:15 AM at the St. Mary's Living Center after a long battle with lung cancer.
Mrs. Rice was born in Key West, FL on Sept. 16, 1926.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Hampton, of Brandon, FL; her granddaughter, Mrs. Amber (Roger) Smith, of Lake Alfred, FL; three grandsons, Brett (Patty) Grimes, of Cary, N.C.; Chris (Amy) Chamberlin, of Bowling Green, OH; and Jeff Chamberlin of Colorado. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Grimes, of Cary, N.C. and Stone Chamberlin, of Bowling Green, OH and her sister, Joanne Bolling of Mobile, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon E. Rice, and son, E.B. Rice.
It was Mrs. Rice's wish to be cremated and no memorial service be held. The family will hold a private service at Elmgrove Cemetery at a later date.
An avid reader, it was Mrs. Rice's wish that any memorial contributions be made to the St. Mary's Public Library.
