Benjamin F. "Sparky" Hower Jr.

Benjamin F. "Sparky" Hower Jr., 68, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 7:14 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on October 8, 1953 in Decatur, IN to Benjamin and Marie (Cousino) Hower Sr. who preceded him in death.  On June 12, 1976 he married Glela Neale and she survives in Wapakoneta.

Survivors include 3 children; Jonathan (Jennifer) Hower, Krista (Louie Davis) Thomas, Ben (Tracey) Hower all of Wapakoneta; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; a brother Carl (Allene) Hower and a sister Faith Hower.

Sparky attended Belmont High School in Decatur, IN and then proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1970-1972.  He retired as a semi-truck driver in 2007. Recently, he returned to work as a security officer with Allied Security at the Husky Refinery in Lima. He was a member of the Wapak Nazarene Church for more than 25 years where he volunteered countless hours helping with funeral dinners and doing building maintenance.  He enjoyed camping with his family as often as possible and dearly loved his dogs.

Funeral services will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Rev. Stephen Ambros will be officiating and military rites will be performed by the V.F.W Post 8445.  Family and friends may call or visit from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
