Adrian F. Koenig 89, of Wapakoneta died at 9:45 A.M. April 29, 2011 at Auglaize Acres.
He was born on December 5, 1921 in Auglaize County to William C. Sr. & Katherine L. (Frankenburg) Koenig who both preceded him in death.
On April 8, 1947 he married Marie K. Schaub who died April 3, 2008.
He is survived by 9 children; Shirley (Dan) Russ and Mary Jane (Eugene) Middleton both of Dayton, Rita (Jim) Watrous of Casselberry, FL, Angie (Michael) Green and Pat (Bob) Ardle both of Wapakoneta, Rose Koenig of New Knoxville, Joyce (Paul) Knueve of Wapakoneta, Fred Koenig of St. Marys and Richard (Lori) Koenig of Wapakoneta; a daughter-in-law Anita (Tony) Rozendaal of Wisconsin, 30 Grandchildren and 23 Great-grandchildren, 5 brothers William Jr., Julian, Bernard Koenig, Paul (Kathleen) Koenig & Virgil (Sharon) Koenig, 2 sisters Sr. Dorothy Koenig C.PP.S. and Viola Koenig and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Dennis Koenig, a brother Omer Koenig, and a sister Sr. Gemma Koenig C.PP.S.
Mr. Koenig attended St. Joseph School and was member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from June 21, 1942 until November 29, 1945 during World War II as a military policeman. He was a dairy and grain farmer for 63 years and was a welder by trade. He was also a member of the Wapakoneta K of C #1272. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. The Rev. Patrick Sloneker will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the V.F.W. Post #8445.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta where a rosary service will be held at 7:45 P.M.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Church Renovation, Auglaize Acres Activity Fund or to St. Rita's Hospice.
